Current State of Entrepreneurship in Arkansas
The Public Policy Institute’s 2002 New Economy Index has ranked Arkansas as 48th in the nation relative to its ability compete in the developing economy. The Milken Institute rated Arkansas in 2002 as last in economic development. These reports suggest that a missing entrepreneurial environment is one of the primary reasons that Arkansas has not been able to compete and grow. In order to have any significant growth in new companies, an environment which supports those entrepreneurs must exist.
Meeting the Need
The purpose of the Techpreneur organization is to foster the growth of entrepreneurs and their technology-based companies in central Arkansas by creating an open environment for education and entrepreneurship. This will be accomplished by creating an entrepreneurial environment where Techpreneur hopefuls will feel comfortable sharing ideas and networking with one another.
